Track every medical asset.
Improve every moment of care.
Real-time indoor location for medical equipment - helping hospitals and healthcare facilities find critical assets faster, reduce equipment search time, optimize utilization and improve operational efficiency on existing BLE and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
When equipment is everywhere, finding it shouldn't be a problem.
Hospital equipment constantly moves between rooms, departments and floors. Without accurate indoor visibility, staff spend valuable time searching for infusion pumps, wheelchairs, beds and other critical assets - time that belongs with patients.
Equipment search
Staff waste significant time searching for infusion pumps, wheelchairs, stretchers and monitors - time that should be spent on patient care, not corridor searches.
Poor utilization
Without visibility, assets remain unused or unevenly distributed across departments - driving unnecessary purchases while existing equipment sits idle.
Limited visibility
Traditional inventory systems tell you what you own - not where it is right now. Manual counts are slow, expensive and obsolete before they are even completed.
From equipment to actionable location data.
Four steps to transform how your hospital tracks, finds and manages mobile medical equipment.
Tag
Attach a compact BLE tag to every asset you want to track - infusion pumps, wheelchairs, stretchers, monitors, beds and more. Lightweight, long-battery, no setup at point of use.
Locate
NAO® BlueListener and NAO® BlueSpot read tag signals via triangulation. NAO® Track determines every asset's indoor position using the hospital's existing Cisco, Aruba or Fortinet network.
Visualize
Teams access equipment locations through NAO® Viewer - an intuitive indoor map showing every tagged asset in real time, searchable by type, department or status.
Act
Use real-time location data to find assets instantly, trigger geofence alerts when equipment leaves authorized zones, monitor utilization and improve maintenance workflows.
One location platform. Multiple healthcare use cases.
From infusion pump tracking to biomedical maintenance workflows - NAO® Track covers every medical equipment management need across your facility.
Medical equipment
Track infusion pumps, IV pumps, stretchers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, AEDs and monitors in real time across all floors and departments.
Equipment utilization
Understand where equipment is located, how frequently it is used and where demand concentrates - driving evidence-based procurement decisions.
Staff workflows
Help healthcare workers find the equipment they need without unnecessary searching - reducing equipment search time and improving care delivery.
Geofencing & alerts
Create virtual zones and receive instant alerts when equipment enters or leaves defined areas - preventing asset loss and unauthorized removal.
Biomedical maintenance
Improve biomedical maintenance workflows by knowing where a device is before scheduling intervention - and confirming equipment location during regulatory audits.
Medical equipment inventory
Maintain a continuously updated view of all mobile equipment across your facility - replacing periodic manual counts with a live, automatic inventory.
See your hospital differently.
Turn your hospital floor plans into a live operational map. Locate equipment, visualize movements and understand how assets flow across departments - all from a single interface.
Less searching. Better utilization. More time for care.
Search time
Reduce the time staff spend looking for infusion pumps, stretchers and monitors across departments.
Asset utilization
Make better use of existing equipment - identifying idle assets and redistributing before purchasing new ones.
Equipment loss
Improve visibility across departments and facilities - preventing drift, misplacement and unauthorized removal.
Operational efficiency
Give clinical and operations teams real-time information to make faster, more confident decisions.
Improved biomedical compliance
Locate devices before maintenance visits - keeping certification schedules on time and audit-ready.

Medical equipment tracking - frequently asked questions
What is medical equipment tracking?
Medical equipment tracking uses indoor positioning technologies - typically Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) - to determine the real-time location of mobile medical assets within a hospital or healthcare facility. A real-time location system (RTLS) computes and displays the position of every tagged device, from infusion pumps and wheelchairs to beds and monitors, on an accurate indoor map accessible to clinical and operational staff.
How does indoor equipment tracking work in hospitals?
Medical equipment is fitted with compact BLE tags that broadcast continuously. BLE-enabled access points - from Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet or Extreme - capture these signals and forward measurements to a positioning engine such as NAO® Track, which calculates the asset's indoor position and displays it on a live map. No cameras, no new infrastructure and no user action required at the point of use.
Can you track medical equipment across multiple floors?
Yes. BLE indoor positioning provides visibility across multiple floors, departments and buildings. The positioning engine uses floor plans for each level and computes the correct floor automatically - giving a true three-dimensional view of asset location across your entire facility.
What medical equipment can be tracked?
Any portable clinical asset can be tracked with a BLE tag. Common examples include infusion pumps and IV pumps, wheelchairs, hospital beds and stretchers, defibrillators (AEDs), portable ECG monitors, ventilators, medication trolleys, gas bottles and surgical instrument kits.
What is the difference between medical equipment tracking and RFID?
RFID typically requires scanners at fixed points - you know when a device passes a gate, but not where it is between those points. BLE-based RTLS provides continuous, real-time positioning at room level, updated automatically as assets move, without any fixed scan points or staff intervention.
Can medical equipment tracking integrate with existing hospital infrastructure?
Yes. NAO® can leverage existing wireless and BLE infrastructure, depending on the deployment environment. Where Cisco, Aruba or Fortinet BLE-capable access points are already installed, no new hardware is required. NAO® also integrates with CMMS, EHR and facilities management platforms via open APIs.
How accurate is indoor medical equipment tracking?
Pole Star's BLE positioning delivers room-level accuracy - typically 1 to 3 metres - sufficient to identify the room, bay or corridor where an asset is located. This allows clinical staff to locate any tagged device in seconds without walking the ward.
Make every medical asset easier to find.
Give your healthcare teams real-time visibility into the equipment they rely on every day - on your existing BLE infrastructure, with no new hardware and no disruption to clinical workflows.
