NAO Track

NAO® Track is the real-time location engine (RTLS) of the NAO® Suite, developed by Pole Star to compute, manage and expose the indoor location of people, equipment and assets in complex professional environments.


NAO® Track is a core technological component that transforms Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals collected from existing network infrastructure, beacons, tags or smartphones into accurate, reliable and exploitable location data. It operates as the calculation layer of the NAO® Suite, feeding visualization, supervision and analytics applications with real-time positioning information.

Real-time location computation

NAO® Track collects and processes BLE signals emitted by compatible devices such as NAO® BlueSpot beacons, BLE tags or smartphones. Based on these signals, the engine computes positions using proprietary localization algorithms combining signal strength analysis, temporal filtering and infrastructure-aware calibration.

 

Depending on the environment and deployment configuration, NAO® Track delivers location accuracy adapted to operational requirements, including room-level or sub-room-level precision in controlled environments. Position calculations are continuously updated and made available in real time to connected applications.

Native integration with infrastructure and platforms

NAO® Track is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing network and location infrastructures. It operates on top of BLE-enabled Wi-Fi networks and is compatible with major enterprise ecosystems such as Cisco Spaces, HPE Aruba, Fortinet and other BLE-capable architectures.

 

Computed positions are exposed through REST APIs and real-time interfaces (MQTT), allowing third-party applications and business systems to consume location data without duplicating logic or infrastructure. NAO® Track communicates natively with NAO® Viewer for supervision and NAO® Flow for analysis and reporting, forming a coherent end-to-end location platform.

Deployment, security and data governance

NAO® Track can be deployed either on NAO® Cloud or NAO® Server, depending on customer security, compliance and data governance requirements. This flexibility allows the solution to operate in open environments as well as in regulated or sensitive contexts requiring local processing and strict data control.

All communications between infrastructure, servers and applications are secured using authenticated APIs and encrypted channels. The architecture supports controlled data storage and configuration, enabling compliance with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR.

Scalability and operational reliability

NAO® Track is designed for large-scale deployments and critical environments such as hospitals, industrial sites, airports, ports and ships. The engine supports the simultaneous tracking of thousands of objects, devices or users across multiple buildings or sites, while maintaining consistent performance and accuracy.

Its modular architecture allows organizations to start with limited deployments and progressively scale up to full RTLS coverage without re-architecting the system.

Operational visibility and flow analysis

By continuously tracking movements and presence, NAO® Track provides organizations with a factual view of how people and assets circulate within their environments. This visibility enables the analysis of operational flows, identification of congestion areas, detection of underutilized resources and understanding of real usage patterns.

Location data produced by NAO® Track can be leveraged to support operational optimization, maintenance planning, logistics coordination and process improvement, replacing estimations with objective data.

Safety and critical event management

NAO® Track contributes directly to safety-related use cases by enabling real-time visibility and geofenced alerting. Authorized and restricted areas can be defined, and alerts can be triggered automatically when predefined conditions are met or when critical events occur.

In situations such as medical emergencies, duress alerts or operational incidents, teams can immediately locate the people or assets involved and coordinate an effective response, significantly reducing reaction times in sensitive environments.

A core engine for location-based operations

As the calculation engine of the NAO® Suite, NAO® Track turns raw BLE signals into reliable, real-time location intelligence. It provides the foundation required to deploy tracking, safety, flow optimization and analytics use cases at scale, while remaining fully interoperable with existing infrastructure and business systems.
